Bilingual
Education programs ensure that students who are Limited English
proficient develop high levels of academic attainment in English, and
meet the same challenging State academic content and student academic
achievement standards as all children are expected to meet through high
quality language instruction programs. The goal is to prepare English
language learners to enter all English instructional settings
successfully the program also promotes parental and community
participation in language instruction educational programs for the
parents and communities of limited English proficient learners.

The Bilingual/ESL Program
offers several programs to educate and enrich its students: |

Bilingual Instruction |
| This program enables limited English proficient
students to become competent in the understanding, speaking,
reading and writing of both the Spanish and English languages.

Dual Language Instruction |
| This program enables limited English proficient
students and English speaking students to develop their ability to
speak, read, write and understand both the English and Spanish

English as a Second Language |
| This program enables limited English proficient
students to improve their ability to read, write, speak and
understand the English language through the integrated use of

Sheltered Instruction |
| This program extends the time that limited English
proficient students have for receiving English language support
while they learn content subjects.

| Parental involvement is an important part of
education, especially when it comes to learning another language.
The Bilingual Education Program encourages parental involvement
through several programs. |

Latino Family Literacy Project |
| The Adult Education and Bilingual Education offices
are working together to make this program a continued success.
Cleburne schools provides staff and materials to train parents to
read with their children, improving literacy levels of the child
as well as the parent. This program is offered on multiple
campuses and participants meet once a week for ten weeks. This

Dual Language Parent Training |
| This program educates parents on how children
acquire language. Though this program is intended for the parents
of children enrolled in the Dual Language program, anyone is
welcome to attend. The program is free and offered at multiple
